Bank Accounts and Check Cashing
Xavier University will cash one-party checks for students up to $25.00. Students are urged to open an account with a local bank in order to avoid complications in the management of funds. Numerous banks are located within a five-mile radius of campus. When opening an account, it is best to make the initial deposit with cash or a certified check. If students use a personal check to open an account, many banks will require that they wait until that check clears before writing checks on the new account. Keep careful records of checks written to avoid writing a check without sufficient funds.
