“ Enhancing the Structure of Educational Opportunity:
Xavier Prepares Leaders for America ’s Future”
SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES
Activity 1
Student and Faculty Support through the Center for Intercultural & International Programs.
This activity will assist the Center for Intercultural & International Programs to substantially increase the number of students participating in Study Abroad and to increase faculty support in internationalization of the curriculum.
Activity 2
Using Technology for Academic and Administrative Purposes.
This activity will assist the Information Technology Center to support and update information technology on both the administrative and academic side by developing the technology infrastructure and acquiring hardware and software for specific uses.
Activity 3
Writing Center Services to Enhance Academic Success of Education Majors.
Title III funds will assist the Writing Center (1) to improve the writing and grammar skills of education majors by offering supplemental tutorial sessions and special mini-course tutorials and (2) to increase the number of referrals to the Writing Center from all majors.
Activity 4
Expanding Counseling Services.
This activity is designed to increase the participation of Deciding Majors in the Counseling Department’s programs, to increase the information technology skills of Xavier freshmen, and to expand participation in wellness activities.
Activity 5
Enhancing Academic Instruction Through Curriculum/Program Reviews.
Through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, this activity will provide funding that will enhance departments’ ability to educate their students, to attain or maintain accreditation, and to upgrade equipment. In addition it will enable Xavier to bring outside speakers to campus in order to reinforce and broaden students’ educational backgrounds.
Activity 6
Improving Instructional Facilities.
This activity will assist the office of Facility Planning and Management to extend, upgrade, and maintain instructional facilities.
Activity 7
Strengthening the Development Office.
This activity will maintain and enhance the Office of Institutional Advancement through support of the Information Systems Manager and upgrade of the use of technology.
Activity 8
Strengthening Funds Management.
This activity will support the Office of Fiscal Services through additional staff, training, and the use of consultants for specialized services.
Activity 9
Project Administration.
The Planning Office will manage all Title III Activities to insure efficient coordination of those activities into the work of the university. The Title III Coordinator is Susan Fredine.

SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES
Activity 1
Enhancing Information Technology and Teaching and Research Capabilities in Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences.
This activity will enhance the research, teaching, and information technology capabilities of the College of Pharmacy by partially funding faculty access to technology, and by renovating and enhancing faculty offices, and teaching and research laboratories, including the Vivarium.
Activity 2
Strategic Planning for Future Programs in the College of Pharmacy.
This activity will allow the College of Pharmacy to create and partially implement a strategic plan to guide its programs in the 21st century.
Activity 3
Using Technology to Enhance the Management of Research and Sponsored Programs.
This activity will allow better management of research and sponsored projects in the College of Pharmacy by partially funding enhancement of technology in the Office of Sponsored Programs.
Activity 4
College of Pharmacy Scholarship Program.
This activity will allow the creation of scholarships for College of Pharmacy students.
Activity 5
Endowment Enhancement.
This activity will enable the College of Pharmacy to increase its endowment.
Activity 6
Strengthening the Health Sciences Library Collection.
This activity will expand and strengthen the Pharmacy’s Library resources by adding resource materials, including books, serials, and electronic resources.
