Dear Xavierite:
On behalf of the entire Division of Student Services, welcome to the Xavier University family. You are entering Xavier at one of the most exciting times in our history. Our focus is on the future and that future is bright with promise because you will be a part of that future. You are a Xavierite! That means we have high expectations for your development and success.
The mission of the Office of the Vice President of Student Services is to provide educational support programs and to insure that your co-curricular activities are as challenging and rewarding as your academic pursuits. We have the facilities, staff, and experience to aid in your success.
The areas of Student Services that will enhance your educational and personal development include: Athletics, Campus Activities, Campus Ministry, Career Services, Center for Student Leadership & Service, Counseling and Wellness, Health Services, New Student Orientation and First Year Experience, Campus Recreational Sports, Residence Life, University Center, and University Police.
It is our hope that you will develop the capacity to think critically and analyze competently in order to become leaders on campus and ultimately, in the communities where you will reside upon graduation. You must learn to work between departments and within campus organizations. We expect you to be able to take a good idea from one location and plant it in another for the betterment of all.
Our desire is to have students who are wise, inquisitive and willing to accept and meet the challenge of higher education at Xavier as you prepare to fulfill your career and life goals.
Here at Xavier, we believe you will find all that is necessary to advance your educational endeavors.
We are anxious to meet you! Come and be prepared to make positive contributions to the Xavier family and the world. All our staff is here to assist you.
Sincerely,
Joseph K. Byrd, Vice President
