Xavier University of Louisiana’s Homework Clinic is a student coordinated and facilitated program that provides basic homework assistance to students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth. This is a FREE service open to all qualifying students.
Trained student volunteers provide aid with study skills, problem solving, and basic survival methods for making it through grade school. At the end of each day, time permitting, once all the homework is complete, educational games and some recreational games will be played to reward students for completion of all assigned work.
The program is housed in the lobby of the House of Studies residence hall on Xavier’s campus. Operation hours are Monday through Wednesday 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., students must be picked up promptly at 5:30 p.m.
As an added bonus, through collaboration with the Kids Café and Second Harvest Food Bank, a free dinner will be provided daily with occasional lessons in good nutritional habits.
The first day of the program is Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Parents are welcome to stay the first day to observe the program and to meet the volunteers. Enrollment applications may be submitted on the same day the student begins the program, however a few days notice is appreciated.
If for any reason a student can not attend or you have other questions, please contact Mr. David Bocage at (504) 520-5133.
