The American Humanics program is an innovative certificate program offered to Xavier University’s undergraduate students. American Humanics, Inc. (AH) is a national organization that collaborates with affiliated college/university programs and nonprofit agencies in recruiting, preparing, and placing students in meaningful careers with youth and human service agencies. American Humanics requires hands-on experience through internships and volunteer opportunities.

The American Humanics curriculum program prepares students by educating and training them in various skill areas, including:

  • Board and Committee Development;
  • Fundraising and Fiscal Management;
  • Human Resource and Volunteer Management;
  • Nonprofit Administration;
  • Program Planning and Evaluation; and
  • Public Relations and Marketing.

Certification Requirements

  • Completion of a baccalaureate degree
  • 300 contact hours of internship
  • 10 hours of involvement in basic and advanced level workshops
  • 180 contact hours of coursework
  • Attend AH Management Institute

Each year our nation’s non-profits need 50,000 entry-level professionals to fill staff vacancies.  Unfortunately, an adequate pool of diverse, competent candidates does not yet exist.  How would you like to have an edge on the job market?  The American Humanics program is an innovative certificate program offered to undergraduate students at Xavier University of Louisiana.  The program equips students to become skilled professionals and leaders in non-profit organizations and agencies.  American Humanics is the only national Non-profit Certification program.
