Reverend Gerard Charles Marable researched the ecclesiology of inculturation as he worked to develop a theology of Cross cultural Ministry as reflected in his Major Paper entitled “Toward a Theology of Cross Cultural Ministry and developed a week long seminar, “A Cross Cultural Formation Program for International Priests Serving in the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey” to help international and cross-cultural priests reflect critically upon the cultural and religious milieu they were encountering in the cultural context of both church and society of the United States.
Mr. Fessahaye Mebrahtu of Eritrea-
Mr. Fessahaye Mebrahtu, a native of Eritrea, and a lay minister and member of All Saints Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, completed an historical-theological essay entitled “Speaking Truth to Power: the Prophetic Voice of Archbishop Abune Philipos Mengistu exploring the prophetic ministry if Archbishop Philopos Megistu, a Eritrean bishop who was imprisoned because he prophetically called Haile Selassie I’s, King of Ethiopia, attention to the social-political inequities that did not reflect the Gospel call for social justice and freedom for the poor and marginalized.
Mrs. Yvonne Marie Tiandem-Adamou of Charlotte, North Carolina-
Mrs. Yvonne Marie Tiandem-Adamou, a lay minister and member of Our of Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina did her research and practicum on the topic of HIV/AIDS. Her research paper entitled “HIV/AIDS in the African and African American Catholic Community” explored the church’s teachings on the consistent ethics of life, contraceptives and moral theological writings addressing the challenge that the HIV/AIDS epidemic posed for the same. In an effort to impact the need for churches to provide opportunity for its members to respond appropriately and compassionately to the HIV/AID Pandemic that is ravaging the Black Community in the United States and the Continent of Africa including her native home, Cameroon, Africa, she created a non-profit organization and developed a parish workshop “Increasing HIV/AIDS Awareness in the African and African American Community”
on HIV/AID that address the medical and theological challenges posed by this medical crises.
