SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS |
| |
The Institute for Black Catholic Studies is committed to providing programs
that encourage, nurture, support, and challenge women and men toward
ongoing faith formation. Through seminars, workshops, conferences,
community building, and retreats, the Spiritual Enrichment Programs seek
to enable persons to examine and nurture their call to ever-deepening spiritual
renewal, growth and maturity; as well as continued ministerial development
and service.
Each component of the Spiritual Enrichment Programs is organized around
a particular focus group. The summer 2004 Programs include:
- African/African
American Eldership Retreat/Seminar designed for African/African American
men and women 60 years and older who wish to explore their vocations
as elders in the church and community.
- The “Taste Of The Institute” allows African and African
American men and women 21 years and older to spend a week of prayer,
spiritual reflection, study and purposeful play within the context
of the Institute Community.
PROGRAM
- Daily Morning Prayer (daily Eucharistic liturgy optional).
- Shared participation in the communal life of the Institute, i.e.,
the Commemoration of the Ancestors, the Vespers Service and Culture
Night, and a rich variety of liturgical events.
- Daily processes of prayer, guided reflections and sharing of the
wisdom, faith, grace, and call to leadership from an African American
perspective.
