THE CERTIFICATE AND ENRICHMENT (C &E) PROGRAMS

The Certificate and Enrichment Programs of the Institute provide ongoing education and formation of ordained and lay ecclesial ministers and volunteers for the Black Community and the Catholic Church at-large. Certificate Programs award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in accordance with the specific guidelines of each program based on classroom hours and satisfactory completion of all course work. These units are not applicable and do not convert to college or graduate level credits. The summer Programs have been structured into separate one week seminars to meet the growing demand for accessible on-going education.  Click her for the application

Certificate Programs

  • THE CATECHIST FORMATION FOR THE BLACK CATHOLIC COMMUNITY In response to the current and diverse ministerial priorities of parish catechists, religious education, and/or school religion teachers in the African American community, one week modules have been developed. Participants may enroll in any one or all of the one-week seminars.
  • THE YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAM offers three one-week topical seminars for lay, religious or ordained youth ministers and volunteers. Those who wish to develop culturally sensitive and effective Black Catholic youth ministry programs are encouraged to apply. Participants may enroll in any one or all one-week youth ministry modules.

Enrichment Programs

  • THE MINISTERIAL LEADERSHIP IN THE FAITH COMMUNITY PROGRAM offers three one-week seminars for the laity, men and women religious, and priests who seek to update their theological and pastoral understandings of Catholic ministry in the black community. Christian disciples active in the parish community and at-large social ministries need to engage in ongoing formation and professional development.  Participants may enroll in any one or all one-week modules.

Spiritual Enrichment Programs

  • African/African American Eldership Retreat/Seminar (One-week) This program was developed for African/African American men and women 60 years and older who wish to explore their vocations as elders in the church and neighborhood communities.
  • "Taste Of The Institute" (One-week) This program was developed for men and women 21 years and older who wish to spend a week of prayer, spiritual reflection, study and purposeful play within the context of the Institute Community.
